Family Winemakers of California Announces San Francisco Tasting Event

Great Wine – Family Winemakers Tasting is Scheduled for Sunday, August 22 in San Francisco

Sacramento, CA (July 2, 2021) – Family Winemakers of California, an association of family-owned wineries in California, is excited to announce the 2021 date for its San Francisco tasting.  This year, the trade and consumer tasting returns to San Francisco and takes place at The Midway – 900 Marin Street again this year, on Sunday, August 22.  This location is in the up-and-coming dogpatch area of SF.  The tasting spotlights about 65 producers from California’s small, family-owned wineries pouring 300 different wines, said Pete Downs, President of the Family Winemakers of California.

“The pandemic has been very difficult for many small producers in the wine industry, as many were selling their wines only to restaurants or relied on visitors to their tasting rooms for wine sales – both of which were greatly impacted by the California shutdown.  Our member wineries are eager to get back to pouring their fabulous wines for consumers and especially for the trade accounts that are back in business and ready to restock their winelists.  Many of these award winning and acclaimed wines will be tasted for the first time in the San Francisco area.  This tasting is always a hit, and this year it is even more in demand because people were unable to participate in these events for over a year.  It’s an ideal way to meet the owners and winemakers that craft these great wines.  The passion-driven winemakers of these small production wines are what makes our tasting event really special.  Wineries will feature many hard-to find wines poured by the winemaker or winery owner themselves, in many cases,” added Downs.  “Our guests look for a different type of event, where they can discover the best wines that aren’t available everywhere and get the opportunity to speak directly with the winemaker or the winery owner and get to hear firsthand about the family tradition and story behind the wines being poured.  They also love the atmosphere of our events.  We are excited to be here this year and to be able to do what we all love to do.”

The 2021 San Francisco Tasting opens its doors on Sunday, August 22 at 12:00 pm, for specially ticketed consumers, and 2pm for the general consumer. The tasting is targeted to members of the trade and discerning consumers.  The event ends at 5:00 pm.  It’s also worth noting that orders can be placed that day for wines you like for shipment to your home, making it easy to enjoy your favorite wines later.  If you want to participate in their wine clubs, you can sign up at this event for that too.
