Wines for contemplation and sharing is the mantra for the newest addition to the Healdsburg wine scene, Roald Wine Company. Owner and winemaker Greg Nelson is honoring his father with this tribute to his name. The wines show a refined hand at the helm, and offer elegantly made, lower alcohol options for the knowledgeable wine crowd.

Opening Thursday, April 18th, the décor shows off a subtle late 50’s jazz club vibe, with mid-century stylish furnishings arranged into comfortable and welcoming spaces for guests to enjoy friendly chats, spirited discussions, or playing a game of backgammon, all while enjoying the Roald wine selections. Cheese plates and nibbles are available to enhance the tasting and sharing experience.

Nelson, who has a PhD in Biology, came to winemaking purposefully, after journeying down life’s roads for a while. Greg learned to make wine at Ramey, then started honing his craft with various wineries in the area including Benziger and Martinelli.

The wine room will be open evenings before events at the Raven Theatre for pre-show gathering with friends over a glass of wine. All summer, take-away picnic bottle specials will be offered on Tuesdays for the popular Tuesday in the Plaza music series in Healdsburg. An industry night is in the works, with other community activities being planned. Owner Greg Nelson says, “Suggestions are welcome. We want to interface with the community as much as possible!”

Join Roald from 11am to 6pm all days of the week at 118 North Street, Healdsburg. Find out more at www.roaldwine.com.
