FurmintUSA Promotions Continue Across the US; Sponsored by the Hungarian Tourism Agency

(Napa, California) October 25, 2018 – In November 2018, Mr. Laszlo Bálint dip. WSET (director of operations), and Mr. Balázs Humayer (co-founder) of FurmintUSA will embark upon a west coast promotional tour with tastings and events in San Diego and Los Angeles, California.

Beginning October 22 in San Diego, Mr. Bálint participated in California distributor JJ Knox’s annual portfolio tasting. In early November, Mr. Humayer will embark upon a Southern California roadshow, culminating with a media dinner in Los Angeles on November 12.

November 14 to 16 marks the fourth year of SOMMCon in San Diego. FurmintUSA will sponsor a tasting break, and fireside chat. This year’s tasting will include eight wines in the dry style of Furmint for which the grape is becoming well known. FurmintUSA has been participating in this trade show since 2016.

This event follows on the heels of a trip sponsored by FurmintUSA, where Sommeliers from San Diego, as well as brand ambassadors from Florida visited the Tokaji region this autumn. This group joined ten Sommeliers before them who have discovered this historic wine region.

“Our goal is to constantly spellbind U.S. wine consumers with specialties from Hungary, the home of the world’s first closed wine appellation on record: Tokaj, 1737. We strongly believe that Hungarian wine – and Furmint in particular – is on track to becoming a key participant in the U.S. wine market,” says László Bálint.

Four years ago, FurmintUSA began captivating the U.S. market with a campaign to promote Hungarian wines made from the indigenous dry Furmint grape. FurmintUSA’s success draws well-deserved attention both nationally and internationally to this important Tokaj grape variety.

Over the past four years, Hungarian winemakers, under the FurmintUSA marketing initiative, have hosted more than 70 tastings in over 9 states. FurmintUSA wines have consistently achieved high recognition in wine competitions and scoring publications.

Furmint lends itself to a wide range of winemaking styles from light dry wines, lively sparkling wines, and more substantial terroir wines to late harvests, Szamorodni and the famous Aszύ. Top notch Furmints are now very popular and are rivaling other leading white wine regions in vying for the hearts of Americans.

FurmintUSA’s portfolio of wines is available through MHW Ltd. (http://www.mhwltd.com); in New York they are distributed through MHW Ltd. and in D.C., Maryland and Virginia are distributed through Georgian Wine House (http://www.georgianwinehouse.com/).

California distribution for seven wineries in the FurmintUSA portfolio, Barta, Béres, Grof Degenfeld, Demetervin, Erzsébet, Majoros and Szent Donát, is through San Diego-based JJ Knox Wine (https://www.jjknoxwine.com). FurmintUSA wines are now available through distribution in Florida from Greystone Partners Inc. (http://greystonepartnersinc.com).
