Santa Rosa, Calif., December 13, 2017. Results are now available for the very first Craft Distillers Spirits Competition held in the heart of Sonoma County’s wine country.  Owned and operated by Wine Competitions Management & Productions in association with Libations Logistics, the contest took place at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds over two days from December 6-7, 2017.  This year’s top honors were awarded to:

  • Best of Show Clear Spirit, Great Women Spirits, Ada Lovelace Gin.
  • Best of Show Brown Spirit, Sonoma Brothers, Bourbon Whiskey.
  • Best of Show Liqueur, Spirit Works Distillery, Sloe Gin.

“For a first-year event launched late this fall, less than 150 entries were received in time to be evaluated, but I think this lent the competition a somewhat exclusive feel for the judges and entrants,” says event owner Debra Del Fiorentino.  “We were very pleased with the quality of entries and look forward to expanding our numbers next year as word spreads and the event grows. Twenty-two percent of our entries garnered Double Gold and Gold Medals combined.”

The competition was created in conjunction with the upcoming Spirited International Spirits Trade Tasting & Show slated for February 27, 2018, also at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.  The event will host spirits-based seminars and a trade tasting/trade show featuring legendary winemaker Jean Charles Boisset as keynote speaker. Boisset has unveiled JCB Spirits, which are wine-based, distilled beverages from the two main grapes of his home region, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The line launched December 1st with three vodkas (classic, caviar infused and truffle infused) and a gin.  “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to speak to and to share JCB Spirits with the leaders of the spirit world!” Boisset said.

All competition medal winners will be posted at winecompetitions.com and TheDataStill.com. For details about the upcoming Spirited International Spirits Trade Tasting & Show, visit spiritedtradetasting.com.
