Robert Mondavi Winery, Franciscan Estate and Mount Veeder Winery raise over half a million dollars for local health and education initiatives.

NAPA, CA (June 7, 2016) – Auction lots from Constellation Brands, Inc. brought in a total of $534,000 at this year’s Auction Napa Valley to support health and education charities throughout the community. The 37th annual Auction Napa Valley, run by the Napa Valley Vintners (NVV), took place June 3-4, 2017 at properties throughout the valley and raised a total of $15.7 million. Included in this year’s lots were offerings from Robert Mondavi Winery, Franciscan Estate and Mount Veeder Winery, all of which are part of Constellation Brands’ fine wine portfolio.

With several wineries throughout the Napa Valley, Constellation Brands is committed to supporting the local community through events like Auction Napa Valley. “We take great pride in our longtime commitment to Auction Napa Valley,” said Chris Stenzel, President of Wine & Spirits for Constellation Brands. “We’re honored that our Napa Valley wineries have been able to play an important role in the auction over the years.”

Constellation Brands’ wineries have longstanding legacies of involvement in Auction Napa Valley, beginning when Robert and Margrit Mondavi assisted with the planning and execution of the first event in 1981. Robert Mondavi Winery has participated in the auction every year since, even hosting the Barrel Auction in 2016, coinciding with the winery’s 50th anniversary. In 2017, Robert Mondavi Winery, Franciscan Estate and Mount Veeder Winery offered a variety of live, barrel and e-lots, including a wildly successful live lot from Robert Mondavi Winery, which celebrated Margrit Mondavi’s legacy in the wine, food and art worlds. The lot, which includes a trip to New York City to tour Margrit’s favorite museums and restaurants, coupled with private experiences donated by the James Beard Foundation, sold for an astonishing $230,000. Sam Glaetzer, Senior Vice President of Wine & Spirits Production, noted that Constellation Brands “couldn’t be happier with this year’s results. It’s important to us at Constellation to give back to the communities in which we make our fine wines, and we’re proud that our Napa Valley properties have made a difference by supporting important programs for local residents.”

Each year, the NVV distributes proceeds from Auction Napa Valley to a group of 25 local nonprofit organizations and strategic initiatives that emphasize prevention and early intervention in the areas of community health and children’s education.
