Wing & Barrel Ranch Introduces Upland Sporting Lifestyle to Northern California

Private Outdoor Lifestyle Club in Sonoma Brings Together Sportsmanship, Fine Wine and Exceptional Culinary Experiences

Sonoma, CA – Wing & Barrel Ranch, spread across nearly one thousand acres of upland bird hunting fields in Sonoma County, offers rare and rich cultural experiences to members of this singular private outdoor lifestyle club. Only thirty miles north of San Francisco, Wing & Barrel Ranch features twenty-four hunting fields and a fifteen-station sporting clays course, designed by renowned British clay course designer, Chris Batha. The Ranch’s clay course, Batha’s only West Coast sporting clay course, features three shooting positions on each station offering over forty-five target presentations.

Designed with a sportsman’s sensibilities and a connoisseur’s discerning palate in mind, Wing & Barrel Ranch offers fine dining and wine experiences to all members. Hosted by vintner and winery members, culinary experiences focus on locally sourced, fresh ingredients, seamlessly paired with fine wines from Sonoma and the Napa Valley. Chef Charlie Palmer has joined Wing & Barrel Ranch as the Culinary Advisor for member dining experiences.

Members may shoot clays with vintner and winery members and join them later for a multi-course meal featuring wines from Sonoma and the Napa Valley. Silver Oak winemaker, David Duncan, says, “Silver Oak was one of the early vintner members of Wing & Barrel. I’ve watched it evolve and am looking forward to the clubhouse being opened. I’m excited about this opportunity for the vintner community and our members, combining hunting, sportsmanship and the great wines of Sonoma and Napa.”

Both men and women are welcomed to the club, as vintner Larry Turley, of Turley Cellars, recently noted, “I enjoy going out there with friends, but even more so, with family. From a previous experience with an English shooter at Wing & Barrel, I liked the approach so much that I reserved a session for myself and three of my four daughters and it was just a wonderful family experience.”

In partnership with iconic gunmakers, Purdey and Beretta, Wing & Barrel Ranch offers expert instruction and gun fitting. A well-appointed shop offers quality apparel and hunting gear, while the club also offers dog training and boarding. Set against a remote backdrop of vast uplands populated with willows, oak trees, rye, wild oats, and wild mustard, Wing & Barrel Ranch invites members to commune with nature while enjoying a bon vivant repast afield. Ray Signorello, of Signorello Estate, says “It’s the location that sold me on Wing & Barrel. I have been driving by this beautiful spot in Sonoma for thirty years. I enjoy shooting clays and upland bird hunting. What’s special about Wing & Barrel is that it combines sportsmanship with fine wine and food. I’m excited about the upcoming clubhouse and having Chef Charlie Palmer involved. It’s just a great place to host friends, colleagues and customers.”

“I have been going to Wing & Barrel for many years,” says Michael Browne of Cirq.  “Always a fabulous experience.  The property is amazing!  The staff is even more amazing and they make us feel very special every time we go.  I love the outdoors and this is one way that myself, friends and family can experience the outdoors in a fun and high end way.  Hard to find a place like this.  It is something that we cherish.”

Additional vintner and winery members include Amapola Creek Winery, A. Rafanelli Winery, Chateau Montelena Winery, Dunstan Wines, Ghost Block Winery, Hearst Ranch Winery, John Anthony Vineyards, Ladera Vineyards, Mauritson Wines, Mira Winery, Michael Mondavi Family Estate, Pedras Wine Company, Ram’s Gate Winery, Red Car Wine, Rochioli Vineyards, Sangiacomo Family Vineyards, Sojourn Cellars, Sonoma Bespoke Beverages, Trinchero Family Estates, Trione Vineyards & Winery, Tuck Beckstoffer Wines, and Tyge William Cellars.

Wing & Barrel Ranch was founded in 2013, with improvements to the facility lasting through 2016. In June 2019, an additional phase of development began with the building of a formidable clubhouse, complete with The Trap Bar, an elegant dining room, premiere shooters’ pro shop, private meeting rooms, locker facilities, enclosed cigar room and an expansive deck overlooking Sonoma Creek. While the clubhouse project is underway, an interim clubhouse is currently being utilized. The property consists of nearly one thousand acres of agricultural land in Sonoma, and is located off of Highway 37.
