May is National Wine Month, May 25th is National Wine Day
NICEVILLE, Florida – (May 17, 2016) – May is National Wine Month, and May 25th is National Wine Day, making for an ideal time to pick up a few bottles of EOD Cellars. According to Wine Institute, the country consumes around 895 million gallons annually.
Now, wine enthusiasts can enjoy a great wine and support a great charity with every wine purchase. The EOD Warrior Foundation partners with Tackitt Family Vineyards to offer the EOD Cellars Wines, with portions of the profits going directly to the EOD Warrior Foundation.
“Most people love a good bottle of wine, whether they are giving it as a gift or having it with their dinner,” explains Nicole Motsek, executive director of the EOD Warrior Foundation. “We are thrilled to have this charitable line of wines. When people choose their wine they can also make the choice to support our mission at the same time. People often want to give back to help the military and this is a way that makes giving simple.”
Tackitt Family Vineyards is a small, family-owned winery that is located in Paso Robles, California. They specialize in premium wines and offer several varietals for the EOD Cellars Wine. The line includes reds, whites, and gift boxed sets. Wines in the collection include The Keeper, Basic Blaster Red, Senior Blaster Red, Master Blaster Red, Willie Pete White, and Det Cord White.
Wines can be purchased across the U.S., and online at the Tackitt Family Vineyards website. The vineyard is run today by Leon Tackitt, a veteran who spent 28 years in the U.S. Navy in the EOD community. The family vineyard was first started by his grandfather in the 1970s.
When it comes to successfully pairing wines with meals, start by pairing the wine with the sauce or meat that stands out. Red wines, such as a Cabernet Sauvignon, pairs well with beef or lamb, while a Merlot pairs well with duck, chicken, or turkey. Zinfandel goes well with mushroom dishes and steak. But ultimately, you can pair food with any wine you like best, there is no wrong way to do it. In addition to serving them with meals and having them at parties, bottles of wine make great gifts.
The EOD Warrior Foundation is a nonprofit organization with a mission of helping military EOD personnel and veterans and their families. There are around 7,000 EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) technicians in the military, performing the most dangerous job in the military as they disarm explosive devices on the battlefields. Many EOD personnel come home with debilitating injuries, including lost limbs, blindness, paralysis, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), burns, and the invisible wounds of war, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
