Geyserville, CA, October 16, 2018 – Sbragia Family Vineyards, the winery founded by renowned Winemaster Ed Sbragia, has opened a second tasting lounge in the town of Sonoma. A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place last week as the winery celebrated the milestone of its official opening and expansion to Sonoma Plaza.

“This new Sonoma Plaza wine tasting lounge will be our second home and offers the experience of Dry Creek to both local residents and tourists visiting Sonoma. It’s great for those who can’t drive all the way out to the end of Dry Creek Road in Geyserville where the winery is located,” commented Steve Cousins, Sbragia’s Chief Operating Officer.

Sbragia’s winemaking history dates back to 1904 in the Dry Creek Valley. The Sbragia Family is dedicated to crafting small production Chardonnay, Zinfandel, and Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma County and Napa Valley. Sbragia strives to grow and produce big, distinctive and balanced wines that celebrate the family’s four generations of grape growing.

Winemaker Ed Sbragia shares, “Being a 3rd generation winemaker, I’ve been making wine here in the Dry Creek Valley most of my life, first as a very young man making wine with my dad from our home vineyard, then 14 years here at Sbragia Family Vineyards with my son Adam. I’ll be celebrating my 70th birthday in December and being able to share the wines Adam and I make with new friends in our Sonoma Tasting Lounge is a special birthday present!”

About the Sbragia Family Vineyards Sonoma Tasting Lounge

The new wine tasting lounge is located at 520 Broadway, off the historic Sonoma Plaza featuring old adobe storefronts, historic landmarks, hotels, restaurants, tasting rooms and cafes. The design concept is rustic, homey and “California Fresh”. The Sbragia team sourced the unique furniture and decor from local Sonoma County antique shops mixed in with some new pieces.  The corrugated tin ceiling and planter box were constructed by the winery’s Facility Manager, Don Graddy. The weathered corrugated tin came from Wine Club Manager Audrey Posl’s family farm. Graddy made the barn door, planter boxes, corrugated tin ceiling, “living wall” with an old palate, and wood backdrop behind tasting bar.

Sbragia has introduced new tasting flight options and events unique from their Geyserville location. The lounge offers casual experiences including weekday Vinyl Happy Hours from 5 pm to 6 pm for music, small bites and $5 glass specials and also hosts monthly themed trivia nights. Guests can taste through a Sbragia Family Favorites flight of assorted Dry Creek and Sonoma Valley wines or a Bold Napa Flight of Reserve Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon and a blind tasting flight that includes surprise wines selected by the host. Tastings flights range from $20 to $30 per flight and are customizable. The lounge also has a variety of board games for guests to enjoy during their visit and is open daily, from 12 pm to 6 pm Sunday to Thursday and 12 pm to 7 pm on Friday and Saturday.

About Sbragia Family Vineyards

Sbragia Family Vineyards is located in the beautiful Dry Creek Valley. The label was born in 2001, when Ed Sbragia decided to focus on making limited, individual lots of wine from grapes grown in select blocks of his favorite vineyards. Sbragia Family wines are all single vineyard and are made from Dry Creek, Napa and Sonoma County fruit. Five of the wines, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and two Zinfandels, are sourced from estate vineyards that range in size from five to thirteen acres and are owned by the Sbragia Family.

The Sbragia family has been farming in DCV for over 100 years. Ed’s grandfather came there from Tuscany in 1904 and worked in local wineries. Ed’s father, Gino, acquired his own vineyards near Healdsburg, growing Zinfandel for sale and home winemaking. The Sbragia family purchased the old Lake Sonoma Winery facility at the end of Dry Creek Valley in 2006 and it is where Sbragia Family Vineyards has made a home for their wines. Today, Ed is joined by his son, Adam Sbragia, as Winemaker.
