SAN DIEGO, CA, October, 2017 – With the firestorms in Northern California wine country, Sonoma, Napa and Santa Rosa being contained, the impact is now being seen and recovery efforts underway. The numbers of displaced people is staggering. Bernardo Winery is announcing today that we are holding a wine and food tasting event November 12th, 2017, from 1-4pm, partnering with 22 other San Diego County wineries and local restaurants to support winery and vineyard workers and their families who have lost their homes or been displaced in these devastating fires, to re-establish their households.

100% of the online ticket sales for WINE AID 2017 will go to those families, through a fund that has been established by the Sonoma County Grape Growers Association. The SCGGF has created a relief fund specifically for winery workers and their families who have been displaced by these devastating fires. A portion of funds raised will also be supporting the Sonoma Humane Society, who is offering medical attention to animals affected by the fire as well as working to reunite pets with their families.

“It’s really been important to our family to be in the vineyards and the cellar, with our guys and gals who work so hard to help produce the wine. People forget how much work it takes to make wine… early mornings, scorching heat and long days, to get wine to table. We appreciate the workers and would like to help them up North, wine country to wine country,” said Ross Rizzo, President and Winemaker at Bernardo Winery.

Tickets for WINE AID 2017 are on sale now on www.ticketleap.com for $50 a person. Tickets include wine and food tasting, live acoustic music and a silent auction. At the door tickets will be $60. Designated driver tickets are $25, including food tasting and complimentary craft coffee and water. Local agencies will be on hand with information on fire preparedness. For more information about this event, please email the organizer, Samantha Nawrocki at Sam@bernardowinery.com or 858-487-1866 ext. 115
