SANTA ROSA, Calif. (August 23, 2016)—Boutique hotel Vintners Inn and the legendary restaurant John Ash & Co. were chosen as 2016 favorites by readers of The Press Democrat in their annual Best of Sonoma County competition. The four-diamond hotel, surrounded by a 92-acre vineyard was named “Best Wine Country Inn” and the restaurant was named “Best Romantic Meal.” Adjacent to John Ash & Co, The Front Room Bar & Lounge made Sonoma Magazine’s list of, “The 18 Best Happy Hours in Sonoma County,” and was also chosen as an honorable mention by The Press Democrat readers.
“It is a great source of pride that locals and visitors continue to Celebrate Everything at John Ash & Co. and Vintners Inn. We are so grateful to our regulars for their continued support,” says General Manager Percy Brandon.
Executive Chef Thomas Schmidt’s seasonal menu showcases Sonoma County’s local flavor with many ingredients sourced from the property’s culinary garden, just yards away from the kitchen. Favorites on the menu now are an appetizer of Tuna and Avocado Poke with ponzu, daikon, wakame, sorrel, tobiko caviar and cucumber chips; Coconut Curry Cauliflower Soup; and Pan Seared Sea Scallops with Beauregard yam purée, sautéed zucchini, and chili caper butter. For dessert, Pastry Chef Casey Stone’s Raspberry Jam-Swirled Cheesecake was just named a “Can’t Take Off The Menu” item by The Press Democrat food and writer Heather Irwin, who recently named Stone as one of Sonoma County’s “Six Sweetest Pastry Chefs.”
Don and Rhonda Carano, founders of Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery in Healdsburg, acquired Vintners Inn and John Ash & Co. in 2000, expanding their shared desire to bring an Old World appreciation of wine, food and hospitality to Sonoma Wine Country.
