Korbel Takes Top Award and Strikes Gold at the California State Fair Wine Competition

Adding to the winery’s award-winning tradition, Korbel also garnered Double Gold Medals for its California Brut Rose and 2011 Russian River Valley Natural as well as a Gold Medal for Korbel California Brandy.

The oldest wine competition in North America and among the most prestigious and competitive, the 2015 California State Fair Wine Competition attracted 2881 entries representing 743 wine brands.  Showcasing the diversity of California wine, only 57 Double Golds and 254 Golds were awarded by 72 judges on 18 panels.

Established in 1882 in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley, Korbel Champagne Cellars produces the United States’ most popular méthode champenoise champagne. Owned and managed by the Heck family since 1954, Korbel currently makes eleven champagnes and a limited amount of still wine. In a separate facility, Korbel also produces one of the country’s most respected brandies.
