Disruptive Irrigation Tech Company Wins Award, Revolutionizes Water Delivery Systems for Viticulture Industry

The definition of a disruptive company is one that causes “radical change in an existing industry or market through being innovative.” (Oxford Languages).

This is exactly what Lumo, a California-based, smart irrigation technology company, has done and is continuing to do in the winegrowing industry..

Since Lumo CEO and Founder Devon Wright and his team launched the company’s cutting-edge, water delivery system two years ago, growers have gained access to a game-changing technology to meet the challenges of grape cultivation in a water-scarce world.

This past summer, Lumo put the industry’s first smart irrigation valve, Lumo One, into the hands and vineyards of some of California’s top grape growers, including; Treasury Wine Estates, Wente, Clos Du Val, Spottswood, REVM, Boheme, Price Family, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars and Pine Ridge Vineyards.

The expectations of even these seasoned professionals were surpassed by Lumo’s incredible technology and commitment to unreasonably good customer support

“Lumo allows me to really understand how our irrigations are performing,” says Tyler Klick, Redwood Empire Vineyard Management. “With viticulture, it is critical that our water delivery is what we intend it to be. That allows us to learn vine water status, how to properly stress and how to build vine resiliency in heat events. Lumo has helped us really dial that in.”

Given that 90 percent of these growers intend to expand their use of Lumo into 2024, and that the company sold out of units in 2023, Lumo has already opened up their 2024 pre-order program for growers in Napa and Sonoma to reserve new inventory.

The pre-order program also offers a 25 percent discount for full vineyard deployment of Lumo as well as priority installation dates.

Lumo also recently won a WINnovation Award, a prestigious honor given annually by the Wine Industry Network (WIN) to recognize five of the most creative and innovative industry suppliers.

Participants planning to attend the upcoming Unified Wine & Grape Symposium, can catch Lumo in the upper level trade show floor at booth #A2817.
