Ongoing Community Service Effort on behalf of Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity

Cork Supply Habitat for Humanity Day May 2015Benicia, CA, May 29, 2015 – For the second time this year, a ten-person team of volunteers from Cork Supply USA, Inc. (CSU) provided enthusiastic, hands-on support to Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity, helping to complete the exterior phase of two homes in Fairfield, California. In January, an eight-member Cork Supply USA volunteer group worked at the same build site, assisting with an earlier construction stage.

On Thursday, May 21, 2015, the volunteers completed the exterior painting of the Gaytan family home, the final step before interior work on the two homes in this project begins. Kathy Hoffman, Development Director for Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity commended the industrious helpers and said, “Cork Supply is one of our best partners. We’re especially pleased when our volunteer teams work with us on a recurring basis. It can take nine months to a year to complete a single home, and when volunteers return to the same project further on in the process, they really understand how much we’ve accomplished, with their help.” Hoffman said SNHfH expected to complete the two homes in early fall and that the families would most likely move in before the end of 2015. The Gaytan and Kenner homes are the seventh and eighth homes completed in Fairfield; these homes will be the fourteenth and fifteenth completed in Solano County over the twenty-four year history of the Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity affiliate.

At the build site, Lisa Kurtz, Chief Financial Officer for Cork Supply USA, donated $1,000 to Habitat for Humanity’s construction fund for the Fairfield homes. She admired the work of the Cork Supply team and echoed their resolve to continue volunteering for Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity projects as a valuable way to give back to their communities.
