Rohnert Park, CA – This November Sonoma State University’s Wine Business Institute is adding a new seminar, “Vineyard and Winery Taxation Basics”, to their Wine Industry Finance and Accounting Certificate. The seminar will address special farming provisions, tax elections and vineyard depreciation methods involved in tax accounting procedures for vineyards. Encompassing the full range of operations involved in the production of wine, the seminar will review the tax procedures pertaining to each stage of the business from early development in the vineyard through production in the winery as well as various tax strategies for inventory costing, selection of accounting methods, depreciation, and other unique taxation rules and planning opportunities available to winery owners. The seminar will be led by Toni Moheng, Senior Tax Manager at Burr, Pilger & Mayer, and co-taught by Michelle Crosbie and Tony Schapero also of BPM.
“Vineyard and Winery Taxation Basics” is one of the many elective seminars offered by the Wine Business Institute within the finance and accounting area, and can be taken in combination with the core and other electives to earn the Wine Industry Finance and Accounting Certificate.
