Sonoma State UniversityOctober 7, 2015 (Rohnert Park, CA) – Sonoma State University’s Wine Business Institute is pleased to announce their alliance with Domaine Chandon to offer a feature seminar series to wine industry professionals in the Napa Valley, as well as Chandon employees on November 4-5th.

“Hosting classes at the winery provides an opportunity for students from around the globe to visit and develop a deeper understanding of the company and Napa Valley. Additionally, Chandon employees will have the opportunity to enroll in the classes at the winery, expanding their professional knowledge and experience,” explained Matt Wood, Estate Director at Domaine Chandon.

“We’re absolutely delighted to partner with Chandon in the delivery of our new program in the Napa Valley,” said Ray Johnson, Director of the Wine Business Institute at SSU. “Matt Wood and I participated on a panel discussion together at the Direct to Consumer Symposium. It was then that we decided to look for ways to partner and the program in Yountville is one of the first.”

Offered in consecutive sessions over a day and half, they provide a dive into three of the most pressing topics for wineries. The first seminar focuses on budgeting and forecasting, while the other two examine e-commerce and direct-to-consumer marketing respectively.

Budgeting, Forecasting and Best Practices for Wine Businesses (11/4, 1:30-5:30) focuses on best practices, building budgets, and forecasts for wine industry businesses.

Practical Strategies to Increase eCommerce (11/5, 8:30-12:30) covers everything from how to test and optimize the design of your website to increase the user experience, to using social media that actually boosts your website traffic.

Lastly, Direct to Consumer Marketing (11/5, 1:30-5:30) looks beyond the obvious sales made in the tasting room, instead focusing on sales driven by newsletters, wine club activity, events and other less common direct marketing strategies.
