May 18th – The Michigan Wine Collaborative (MWC) announces that tickets are now available for purchase for the 2023 Michigan Governor’s Cup events this June 28th & 29th in Lansing Michigan. The Michigan Wine Collaborative’s 2023 Michigan Governor’s Cup Committee has been hard at work planning this historic event and is excited to welcome the Michigan grape and wine industries, members of the trade, state legislators, the press, and the public to attend these events.
MWC will be hosting the first annual 2023 Michigan Governor’s Cup Award Gala & Dinner on June 28, 2023 at the Lansing Center. This event will offer attendees the first opportunity to taste the most highly rated wines from the 2023 Michigan Governor’s Cup Wine Competition which was administered by the Beverage Testing Institute in Chicago. During this Award Gala & Dinner MWC will feature a VIP Cocktail Hour where VIP ticket holders will have the opportunity to taste the wines before the doors open to the public as well as spend some extra time with Michigan wine industry professionals. MWC will also be offering an elegant dinner featuring the winning wines from the competition. Following the dinner there will be an award ceremony where the winning wineries will be presented awards for their victorious wines. Additionally, MWC will be awarding the first ever MWC Inclusion & Expansion Educational Fund Scholarship. This scholarship will provide education and training for underrepresented candidates looking to expand their future career opportunities in Michigan’s growing wine industry.
The next day, June 29, 2023, MWC will be hosting the 2023 Michigan Governor’s Cup Showcase Tasting at the Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center. This event will offer members of the trade with buying power for retailers, restaurants, hospitality, and related industries an exclusive and intimate opportunity to taste through some of the state’s most highly rated wines. Following the trade hour MWC will allow VIP ticket holders a private tasting and mingle hour where they can experience the winning wines from the competition and spend some extra time with the growers and winemakers of those wines. Doors open at 6pm for general admission ticket holders where they will be able to taste through the wines and have a chance to meet and chat with wine industry professionals as well as celebrate the first ever Michigan Governor’s Cup Competition wines.
