March 20th – CGA by NIQ’s latest BeverageTrak data reveals that across the Total US On Premise, velocity is up +7% versus 2022. This has been driven by both an uptick in visitation levels, and check value (+6%).

CGA’s BeverageTrak solution combines powerful datasets to provide a view of how brands and categories are being consumed, when and at what price. Featuring day and daypart tracking, this enables sales and marketing teams to measure performance and activation ROI to develop effective strategies.

With February 20 being President’s Day, Sunday 26 February & Monday 27 February saw negative trends as velocity returned to normal levels. The most recent week has seen steady trends, with the usual variability by day and by state.

Total U.S.

Velocity over recent weeks has followed a similar pattern to previous years, with double-digit growth over the week including Valentine’s Day (to February 18), followed by a return to more normal trading patterns in the latest week (down -8% vs the previous week).

Andrew Hummel, Client Solutions Director – North America, said: “This year, On Premise sales have remained consistent and we can see checks for drinks-led occasions are on the rise across the US (+12% vs year average), outpacing check value (+9%). With almost 3 in 5 consumers planning to travel domestically within the next three months there is opportunity for drinks suppliers to explore partnerships with hotel chains at a national and local level to ensure their brands are front-of-mind for Spring Break travelers, with hotel restaurants and bars two of the more popular On Premise channels for US consumers who are on vacation. CGA by NIQ’s 2023 upcoming Hotel BevAl report will explore in detail the implications of domestic travel for beverage companies to uncover opportunities existing within the hotels channel.”

CGA’s On Premise Impact Report is a fortnightly sales report evaluating the most recent $ sales velocity performances across the US and different sales dynamics across the different states.
