Pioneering Italian Wine Importer Empson USA Announces New Chief Executive Officer

Tara Empson named as successor to Empson USA, a subsidiary of Empson & Co.

New York, NY, April 2, 2019 – Empson & Co., a leading exporter of fine Italian wines, announced today that Tara Empson has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Empson USA and Empson Canada, effective April 1, 2019, following her appointment to CEO of Empson & Co last September. In this capacity, Tara will manage all operations of the importer company and its subsidiaries, Empson USA and Empson Canada.

Tara Empson has long been integrated into the family’s dynamic wine export and import businesses. In 2006, Tara began her career at Empson & Co., taking on numerous managerial responsibilities for the Caribbean, New Zealand, Bermuda and U.S. markets. In September 2018, Tara succeeded Neil Empson and was appointed CEO of the exporter company, Empson & Co.

Speaking to this change, Tara Empson said, “I’m honored to continue the legacy of my father, Neil Empson, in the business of importing and exporting fine Italian wine. Empson USA has rapidly grown over the past decades, and I look forward to working with the company’s outstanding management team and industry network. Under this new leadership, Empson USA will continue its mission of responsible stewardship of importing top quality and distinctive brands. I’m excited to help this vibrant company evolve during this extraordinary time for importers in the U.S. market.”

Tara leads an impressive portfolio of suppliers that are currently exported to 32 countries worldwide. Championing Italy’s indigenous and single varietal wines, Tara is eager to shine a light on the lesser-known varieties hailing from Italy’s most well-known regions, including Verdicchio from Marche, world-class Malvasia from the island of Salina in Sicily, Grignolino in Piedmont and Nerello Mascalese from Etna. Moreover, Tara looks forward to introducing the next generation of Italian wines to the world in close cooperation with up-and-coming, dynamic winemakers, many of whom are women.

Tara is also proud to unveil a new logo for Empson USA. The new logo is part of the company’s efforts to highlight its talented team and core business strengths: integrity, unity, leadership, and authenticity. The new logo includes Empson USA’ establishing year, its expertise in fine wine, and a three glasses design which represents the unity amongst the teams at Empson & Co., Empson USA and Empson Canada.
