DrinkSpaceSEATTLE September 8, 2015, DrinkSpace announced today it is launching a brand new Cabernet Sauvignon called “LUKE,” a Washington state wine from the American Viticultural Area (AVA) Wahluke Slope.

“For years the Wahluke Slope AVA has taken a back seat to several of Washington’s AVAs such as Red Mountain and Walla Walla,” said Thomas Vogele, co-founder of DrinkSpace. “The soil, gentle sloping vineyards, rainfall and temperature are all similar to that of Red Mountain, so we decided it was the perfect time to make a big Cabernet that calls out and highlights the lush and bold fruit of the Wahluke Slope”.

“The ‘LUKE’ release is really going to shake things up because we have created a reasonably priced cabernet – only twenty five dollars retail – that will compete and over-deliver compared to wines coming in at double our price point,” said DrinkSpace Co-Founder Steve Reed.

The idea originated when Thomas Vogele decided he wanted to highlight the oft-unheralded Wahluke appellation that has been consistently producing some of Washington State’s best wines.  Through “LUKE” as metaphor, the Wahluke Slope will stand alone in quality and production, though it has often been compared to the darling AVA of Red Mountain.

“LUKE” is now a part of the DrinkSpace portfolio and will be available in local restaurants and wine shops.

DrinkSpace, the Washington-based agency for boutique alcohol beverage producers, was founded by Vogele, formerly of Michael Mondavi’s FOLIO Fine Wine Partners, and Reed, a marketing/advertising veteran. The company provides much needed sales and marketing expertise to producers, helping them navigate the myriad hurdles small wineries, breweries, cideries and distilleries encounter in the U.S. alcohol beverage industry.   In addition to nine other DrinkSpace partners, “LUKE” marks the second brand that is both sold and produced by DrinkSpace.
