Milan, 19 April 2024 – Ruffino, the historic Tuscan winery established in Pontassieve near Florence in 1877, announces its participation in Milan Design Week with its ORObyRUFFINO exhibition. This exhibition, inspired by Ruffino’s flagship wine, Riserva Ducale Oro, and the essence of Italian design, offers enthusiasts of fine wine and artistry alike a new view on the shared craftsmanship of these two emblems of Italian excellence.

Taking center stage at Milan’s Piazza Sempione, the exhibition transforms the square into a golden oasis, with the historic Dazio di Levante and Dazio di Ponente buildings providing a striking backdrop for a celebration of creativity and craftsmanship. Through collaborations with esteemed partners La Manufacture, Dedar and Ginori1735, ORObyRUFFINO aims to craft an immersive experience where Italian mastery harmoniously blends with art and design.

At the heart of the exhibition lies the Dazio di Levante, offering visitors a multisensory, introspective experience. Ruffino commissioned six internationally acclaimed artists and designers – Filippo Carandini, Rachel Lee Hovnanian, Chiara Lorenzetti, Ettore Marinelli, Tristano di Robilant and Officine Saffi Lab – to interpret the transformative power of gold through their unique artistic visions. Through immersive experiences, including interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, visitors forge an intimate connection with the works, exploring the intersection of Italian savoir-faire and artistic expression – “an instant connection,” (as heralded by Ruffino’s new advertising campaign) is formed.

In the adjacent Dazio di Ponente, guests immerse themselves in Ruffino’s refined ethos, with dedicated spaces reflecting the company’s renewed essence. Here, the ORO BAR offers a culinary journey paired with Ruffino wines and signature cocktails, including the Golden Vision, crafted by internationally renowned mixologist and founder of Drink Kong (World’s 50 Best Bars), Patrick Pistolesi.

Through the exhibition, Ruffino invites spectators to feel, become one, change, reflect and welcome their own personal concept of “ORO.” Ruffino Riserva Ducale Oro Chianti Classico Gran Selezione not only represents oenological excellence, but also serves as a bridge between Italian creativity and value-based heritage. It is a point that unites past traditions with the best practices in the present, paying tribute to the riches, cultural variety and design mastery of Italy.

“Ruffino is writing an exciting new chapter in its history, which elevates the entrepreneurial dream and the pioneering approach of our founder back in 1877, and which aspires to iconic Italian design and the beauty that it is capable of evoking,” remarks Sandro Sartor, President and CEO of Ruffino. “Now, like then, the protagonist of this change is Riserva Ducale Oro, around which we developed our new global advertising campaign centered on Italian mastery, and which is capable of crafting design, wine, beauty and elegant inclusivity,” he continues. “’An Instant Connection’ and the inspiring ORObyRuffino exhibition is now staged at Milano Design Week.”

RUFFINO

Ruffino was founded in the heart of Tuscany in 1877 by cousins Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino, who dreamed of bringing the “ideal wine” to tables around the world. For more than 140 years, Ruffino has been devoted to this dream, producing wines on its estates across leading appellations in Tuscany, including Chianti Classico, Montalcino and Bolgheri, which are now imported and enjoyed in over 90 countries worldwide. In 2023, Ruffino embarked on a momentous transformation to become the absolute benchmark for top-tier Tuscan wines. This commitment can be seen in a pursuit for uncompromising quality, a focus on environmental and productive sustainability, in the ability to innovate while respecting Tuscan identity and, in general, in communicating Italian savoir faire that is envied all over the world.
