April 26th – CGA’s BeverageTrak solution combines powerful datasets to provide a view of how brands and categories are being consumed, when and at what price. Featuring day and daypart tracking, this enables sales and marketing teams to measure performance and activation ROI to develop effective strategies.

Total U.S.

Trends in the US On Premise over recent weeks continue to be steady. After a slight dip in velocity in the week to April 13th (-2%), the most recent week saw positive trends (+1%)

The latest week’s trend is due to an increased ticket count (+2%), with check value down slightly (-1%) vs the previous week.

Velocity in the key states varied between -7% and +6% in the latest week.

Coming up next week will be the Cinco de Mayo. Last year Total US saw a +1% uplift in velocity vs average Friday, this was driven by an increase in traffic. Drinking outlets performed well, with a +3% velocity uplift, again driven by an increase in traffic, with Neighbourhood Bars leading the way (+4%).

Matthew Crompton, CGA by NIQ Vice President – Account Development, said: “The latest BeverageTrak data reveals that while ticket counts are up, check value has slightly declined, suggesting that while consumers continue to prioritize On Premise visits, they are being more cautious in their spending. Next week sees Cinco de Mayo which drove a 1% uplift in sales velocity across Total US last year and each Mega Category saw an uplift compared to the average. Beer and spirits led consumer preference with sales up by 6% and 8% respectively. Brands should strategize with key On Premise dates in mind to find uplift opportunities and optimize sales.”
