Napa Valley’s Famed Stags Leap District Winery Promotes Talent Within

NAPA VALLEY, California (July 20, 2023) – John Conover, Partner and General Manager of Odette Estate Winery and the PlumpJack Collection of Wineries, is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Haugen as Head Winemaker at Odette Estate. With a profound understanding of the winery’s winemaking philosophy and a wealth of experience, Haugen is poised to lead the winery into a new era of excellence.

Conover said, “Andrew’s expertise with Odette’s vineyards and years of international experience, coupled with his proven experience producing wines of superlative quality, positioned him as the standout candidate. We are confident that Andrew will uphold and enhance the winery’s standard for excellence and environmental responsibility, which has been Odette’s guiding philosophy since the Estate’s 2012 debut.”

Originally from Southern California, Haugen’s journey into the world of wine began with a serendipitous encounter with the wine-centric movie Sideways during his time at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Intrigued by the allure of wine, he began taking wine classes alongside his biology curriculum and exploring the burgeoning wine-growing regions of the Central Coast. After gaining experience at wineries across the globe, including Stonestreet in Sonoma County for his inaugural 2012 harvest, Church Road Winery in New Zealand, Howard Park in Australia, and Gran Moraine in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, Haugen joined Odette Estate Winery in 2015.

Over the past eight years, Haugen has continuously honed his craft and deepened his knowledge, progressing from cellar master to enologist to assistant winemaker and now assuming the role of head winemaker. Haugen will oversee all the daily winemaking operations for the Odette and Adaptation labels in his new position, including collaborating closely with long-time Vineyard Manager Oscar Renteria at Oso Vineyard, the 129-acre site located in Pope Valley, which made headlines last year when it was acquired by the PlumpJack Collection of Wineries.

Odette Estate Winery is located at 5998 Silverado Trail, California 94558. The tasting room is daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information, please call 707.690.1213 or visit www.odetteestate.com.

About Odette Estate Winery

Odette Estate Winery, nestled in the heart of the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley, is dedicated to producing limited-production, terroir-driven. Named after three historical female figures, Odette captures the essence of Stags Leap District, symbolizing femininity, strength, and power. The winery’s commitment to responsible stewardship of the land has earned it widespread acclaim and recognition within the industry, from its surrounding 36-acre organically farmed CCOF certified Estate Vineyard to its 5,000-square-foot LEED Gold Certified winery. In 2021, the estate launched the Adaptation label, serving as an accessible entry point to the Odette portfolio and the broader PlumpJack Collection of Wineries. In May of 2022, The PlumpJack Collection announced the acquisition of Oso Vineyard, a sprawling, high elevation site in northeastern Napa Valley. Roughly a third of the 129-acre vineyard’s grapes have been featured in the Adaptation label in recent years, and the Oso acquisition furthers that label’s ability to grow.
