30th November – After missing a year in 2020 due to Covid, the Northwest Cider Association celebrated the return of cider competitions and announced the results of the 2021 Portland International Cider Competition (PICC), where Bauman’s Cider was named the 2021 Cidery of the Year for medium sized cideries. This is the second time Bauman’s has been named Cidery of the Year, holding onto the distinction after winning it last in 2019.

“We are so thrilled to be recognized as one of the top cideries amongst such amazing cider makers in the Northwest” said Christine Walter, founder and head cider maker of Bauman’s Cider. “During the last 18 months of Covid, we have spent a lot of time expanding our portfolio and refining our cider making, and we’re excited to see such a wide range of our ciders winning awards at PICC and other competitions this year”.

In addition, Bauman’s was also recently awarded a Gold Medal for their McIntosh Cider at the historic International Brewing and Cider Awards in England. The competition, which dates back to 1886, has a long history of championing the world’s best brewers and cider makers, and the competition’s unique approach to the judging process sets it apart from other awards, earning it the reputation as the ‘Oscars of the brewing and cider world’.

This adds to a successful year of cider competitions for Bauman’s in 2021, with top awards including:

About Bauman’s Cider Company

Bauman’s Cider Company was started in 2015 by Christine (Bauman) Walter on her family’s farm located in Gervais, Oregon. The Bauman Family homesteaded in Oregon in 1895 and has been farming in the Willamette Valley ever since. Christine’s great-grandfather Stephen Bauman was known to make hard cider in one of the old barns. While the original recipe has long been forgotten, Christine strives to make cider Stephen would have been proud of, using as many fruits and other ingredients from the farm as possible in her ciders. Bauman’s Cider production and taproom is located at Bauman’s Farm & Garden (12989 Howell Prairie Rd NE, Gervais, OR 97026). Bauman’s Ciders can be found throughout Oregon and Washington, or ordered online and shipped to most states at baumanscider.com.
