As sparkling wine sales continue to climb, Spain’s best kept secret debuts in the United States
New York, NY (January 9, 2017) – Pata Negra Cava, the best kept sparkling secret in Spain, has arrived in the United States. Steeped in Spanish culture and heritage, the super-premium cava sparkles inside and out. The cava is produced using the traditional champagne method, which yields a higher quality wine that sparkles with its own natural and finer bubbles. The label design took inspiration from the gate of Antoni Gaudi’s Casa Mila in Barcelona, interpreted to adorn the bottle with an instantly recognizable shimmer rooted in Spanish tradition and artistry. Available in Brut Reserva, Brut Rosé, Organic Brut and Organic Brut Rosé varietals, Pata Negra Cava retails for $14.99 and is available online and at select retailers.
Pata Negra Cavas are produced in Barcelona, at a winery located atop a hill that slopes gently toward the Mediterranean Sea. Its origins date back to 1647, with a walled estate from the seventeenth century. Today, the winery is surrounded by an estate of 309 acres containing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo and Chardonnay vineyards.
“Pata Negra Cava is a fantastic sparkling wine rooted in Spanish culture and tradition,” said Tom Bernth, National Sales Manager USA. “Our Pata Negra Cava offerings are of the highest quality, at an accessible price point, and can be enjoyed on their own or with food pairings, making them an ideal choice for meals, gatherings with friends, or enjoying with one’s favorite book or show.”

According to a study conducted by IRi Worldwide in 2017, sparkling beverages comprise 10% of the total wine market and the category is growing, with yearly sales increasing at an average of $100 million.
“With the growing interest in sparkling wines among American consumers, we are excited to bring the flavor and romance of Spanish winemaking and design to the United States, while helping to build the cava category,” added Bernth. “Not all consumers understand cava, or that it is Spain’s sparkling wine offering, built on the traditions of quality and craftsmanship, and we aim to change that.
“In Spain, the term pata negra is commonly used to refer to items of the highest quality. We’re excited to deliver on that promise with every bottle of Pata Negra Cava.”
