San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival Opens Culinary, Hospitality, and Enology Scholarship Applications

San Diego, CA (August 16, 2017) – The San Diego Bay Wine + Food Festival® opens the application process for its culinary arts, hospitality, enology and viticulture scholarships presented by Fast Forward Futures, Chaîne des Rôtisseurs (Chaîne), and the Berry Good Night Foundation. Scholarships are awarded to students, culinary enthusiasts, and professionals who are looking to further his or her education in the areas of culinary arts, enology and viticulture.

Scholarship funds are raised through silent and live auctions held throughout the week of the San Diego Bay Wine + Food Festival,® Southern California’s most exciting culinary classic held November 12-19, 2017.  This year’s live auction will be held at the Culinary Icons Dinner on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina. Past auction items have included big bottle formats, vacation packages, along with various wine and food novelty items.

Additionally, proceeds from the San Diego Bay Wine + Food Festival® Golf Classic held on Sunday, November 12, and ticket proceeds from other select events will go towards scholarship funds. To date, the San Diego Bay Wine + Food Festival® has raised more than $355,000 towards scholarships.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must enroll in an accredited continuing education program in the culinary arts, enology and viticulture, or hospitality and must be connected to San Diego by school, work, or recent involvement in food or wine. Programs may be within or outside of the U.S., but must offer continuous relevant hands-on, in-person experience.

Applications will be accepted until Monday, September 25, 2017. Scholarship winners will be selected from a panel of restaurateurs, chefs, sommeliers and members of the hospitality trade, and officially recognized at the Culinary Icons Dinner on November 16, 2017.

Scholarship awards typically range from $800 to $5,000 and $1,000 to $5,000 and the funds do not need to be repaid. The scholarship funds are sent directly to the school the selected applicant will be attending.
