Vicard Generation 7NAPA, OCTOBER 22, 2013 – With a single goal in mind of creating the first totally reproducible barrel in the industry, Esprit de Dryades was founded in 2010. After extensive research, development and trial in the field, they are proud to introduce GENERATION 7. Named in honor of the 7 generations of Vicard coopers, G7 uniquely combines over 100 years of artisan knowledge with cutting edge technology. Georges Milcan, General Manager of the cooperage said “With Generation 7, we are changing the paradigm of coopering”.

Generation 7 offers a choice 3 distinct levels of Tannin: low, medium or high as well as premium blend of all three. Winemakers can also specify custom toast profiles using G7’s patented gradual molecular cooking method which guarantees consistency and more importantly, reproducibility in future barrels.

“When I saw the entire process in action, I realized Esprit de Dryades has created a barrel that is probably a decade ahead of any other cooperage. The ability to reproduce the same barrel profile year after year is a winemaker’s dream” said Christy Thomas, Technical Consultant for G7 in the US market.

Generation 7, is available in standard sizes as well as large formats up to 600L. The barrels are only available directly from Esprit de Dryades.
