MATTITUCK, NY – July 24, 2023 – Bridge Lane Wine, a leading NY wine brand located on the North Fork of Long Island, announces today their results in the 2023 International Canned Wine Competition:

  • Bridge Lane Chardonnay, Best of Show White Wines
  • Bridge Lane Bubbles Rosé, Best of Show Sparkling Wines
  • Bridge Lane Rosé, Gold Medal
  • Bridge Lane Bubbles, Gold Medal

International Canned Wine Competition is in its fifth year and took place July 18-20 in Boonville, CA. The competition judged 230 entries from 62 producers, including wines from the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Great Britain, Switzerland, Romania, Japan, South Africa, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and all over the United States.

“Bridge Lane Wine in New York stole the show with two Best of Show awards,” remarked lead judge David Sandri. He added, “Serious, world class wines are going into cans; you can’t judge a wine by its container. The quality at these price points is stellar!”

Bridge Lane Wine, second label to Lieb Cellars, is a leader in alternative wine packaging – producing wine in bottles, boxes, cans and kegs – and was the first winery in New York State to can wine in 2017.

“We knew we wanted to put our wines in can back in 2015, but it took us almost two years to figure out how to do it because it just wasn’t being done on the East Coast yet,” said Ami Opisso, General Manager of Bridge Lane. “Eight years later, it’s beyond exciting to see that our hard work and commitment to the canned wine format is paying off, and that our canned wines are literally among the best in the world.”

The win for Bridge Lane Bubbles Rosé is particularly thrilling because Bridge Lane only introduced that product earlier this year. “Best sparkling wine for our very first production of this wine and the wine’s very first competition? Amazing.” said Opisso.

Bridge Lane canned wines are 250ml or a little over 8 oz., the equivalent of a glass and a half of wine. They are sold as 4-packs or cases of 24. Lightweight, portable and recyclable, Bridge Lane recommends them for the beach, boat, camping and parties.

To purchase Bridge Lane canned wines, visit their tasting room, shop online or find the cans at select retailers.
