CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA — April 24, 2024 — Lubanzi Wines, one of South Africa’s fastest growing wine labels, is excited to announce two new first-vintage releases, the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc and 2023 Cinsault. Based in South Africa’s rugged & iconic Swartland wine region, both new releases form part of a growing portfolio of sustainability minded cuvees.

2023 Sauvignon Blanc – A fresh take on a classic

Drawing from vineyards only a stone’s throw South from the Swartland, Lubanzi’s 2023 Sauvignon Blanc is made using a unique blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Colombard. The wine presents a tropical and moreish hint of banana peel on the nose, and granadilla, yellow stone fruit, guava, and fynbos on the palate. Best served ice cold & with a beautiful view outside.

2023 Cinsault – An overlooked varietal no longer

Known often as the father of pinotage or a grape reserved for rosés and blends, Cinsault is experiencing a resurgence in South Africa and becoming one of the most exciting stories in South African wine. Sourced from 34-year-old vineyards along the southern border of the Swartland, the wine is characterized by a light color, soft mouthfeel and notes of dark cherries, raisins & strawberries. It’s best served slightly chilled and savored in the company of good friends.

These new releases form part of a growing portfolio of cuvees that are certified vegan, fair trade, carbon neutral and made without any sugars, colors, or unwanted additives. Both wines will be available online at Lubanzi’s website and at 100’s of independent retailers and restaurants nationwide.

About Lubanzi Wines

Lubanzi Wines is a start-up, sustainable, South African wine company, created in Cape Town by two young travelers, Charlie Brain & Walker Brown, alongside a small collection of well-known South African winemakers, viticulturists, farm laborers, and humanitarians. Their name comes from a wandering dog that followed the two on a 6 day, 100-mile hiking trip across South Africa’s Wild Coast. Built upon the notion of pioneering a more sustainable & equitable supply chain, the business is proud to be certified Fair Trade, Climate Neutral & a B-Corporation. Further, 50% of its net profits are returned to local winelands non-profit, The Pebbles Project, supporting communities who labor on the country’s wine farms. Lubanzi is distributed in 40+ U.S. states & 10 countries.
