Portland, Oregon (April 5, 2023) — GC Wines is excited to announce a new series of winery pop-ups hosted at GC Wines Local, the winery’s new tasting room at 3450 N. Williams Avenue. The Last Sunday Pop-Up Series features small wineries who do not currently have their own tasting rooms—a collaborative wine tasting experience focused on supporting the Willamette Valley wine community.

“We’re happy to finally have a tasting room in Portland, and excited to share that space with other small wineries,”explained GC Wines winemaker John Grochau. “This is what the Oregon wine community is all about.”

The Last Sunday Pop-Up Series starts on April 30 with Patton Valley Wines. Stoney Wines will be featured on May 28, Parra Wine on June 25, Ricochet Wine on July 30, and Redolent Wine on August 27. All events will take place from 4 to 8 pm (the hours that GC Local is open for tastings).

Many of the events will be hosted by the winemakers, giving guests the opportunity to learn about the wine from the winemaker themselves. Each tasting will feature a mixed flight, with two wines from GC Wines and two wines from the guest winery. Glass pours and bottles from both wineries will also be available. This is a special opportunity to learn about two wineries at once, and experience flights featuring both wineries, which will only be poured at the event.

Last Sunday Pop-Up Series at GC Local

Location: The Canyons Alley 3450 N. Williams Ave, Suite 7, Portland, Oregon 97227

Day + Time: Sundays from 4 to 8 pm

  • April 30: Patton Valley Wines: Patton Valley Wines is a small producer of sustainable Pinot Noirs and Rosé of Pinot Noir. Patton Valley is a nomadic winery and pops up all over Oregon for tastings and events.
  • May 28: Stoney Wines: Stoney Wines has been the dream of Donna Stoney for many years. She became the first black female winemaker in Oregon with the launch of her wine label, producing Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling.
  • June 25: Parra Wine Co: Sam Parra grew up and made wine for 15 years in the Napa Valley before moving to Oregon to start his own winery in 2016. Over the years he has cultivated friendships with highly respected growers who share the same dedication to the craft.
  • July 30: Ricochet Wine Co: Erich Berg founded Ricochet in 2018, naming the winery in honor of his return to winemaking after a stint teaching English. After working at Illahe and Day Wines he started his winery wholly committed to low-intervention winemaking.
  • August 27: Redolent Wine Co: Redolent is a partnership between two friends and neighbors who had dreamed of making wine together for many years. Redolent concentrates on small-batch fermentations with no additions that will disrupt the true nature of the grapes.

About GC Wines

GC Wines was founded by John Grochau as Grochau Cellars in 2002, and has evolved while also adhering to the principles he started with: wine made with minimal intervention from responsibly grown vineyards. Grochau believes that all the people involved in making the wine are the collaborators who create the final product. After reflecting on more than two decades in the business, he shortened the name of his winery to GC Wines to reflect the brand’s evolution from one person’s dream to a dream realized and a much bigger family. GC Wines is nationally known for their Commuter Cuvée, an approachable Pinot Noir blend. Their wines also include the Convivial Pinot Noir and Gamay Noir blend, single vineyard  Pinot Noir, and a number of varietal whites, ranging from the lemony Melon de Bourgogne to crisp Pinot Blanc.
