Celebrate Earth Day with a Mason Bee Tour & Tasting at Willamette Valley Vineyards

April 5th – The tour will take guests through the Estate Vineyard where they’ll learn about the winery’s mason bee program and how it encourages sustainable growing practices. Steven Paisley, who works with the vineyard team to incorporate mason bees on the property, will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the pollinators at work.

The event is open to the public and admission is $30 per person or $20 for Club Members and Owners. The admission fee includes the tour, a tasting of select wines, and a honey-themed cheese plate. Admission is complimentary with the purchase of two or more bottles of wine that day.

Members of the media are welcome to attend the event and learn more about Willamette’s sustainable growing practices.

Steven Paisley helps Willamette Valley Vineyards, along with other area wineries, to incorporate mason bees in their vineyards. He is available to the media during the month of April for interviews.

Since the winery’s founding in 1983, stewardship of the land has been a key principle in Willamette’s winemaking and farming practices. Founder and CEO Jim Bernau believes Pinot Noir made with consideration for the environment, employees and community simply tastes better.

Mason bees are very productive spring pollinators for fruit and nut trees, as well as berry plants and spring flowers. With 40% of the insect population down and biodiversity declining, providing safe nesting places for these bees will help them thrive and increase their populations.
