Employees lend a helping hand in their local communities
Employees from Treasury Wine Estates will be setting aside their corkscrews this week and reaching for work gloves, sun screen and protective hats as they fan out into communities as part of the company’s third annual Global Volunteering Week.
Worldwide, TWE provides a paid day for volunteering, and local efforts are focused on such activities as clean-up of invasive weeds along the Napa River Bank, trail maintenance at Bothe State Park and Westwood Hills, along with activities at the Napa Food Bank, Crayon Initiative and the Enchanted Hills Camp for the Blind.
Global Volunteering Week forms a central pillar of TWE’s Corporate Responsibility foundation and finds employees in every region and function of TWE’s business come together to undertake valuable work to support community organizations. Volunteers will be at work locally in Napa and elsewhere in the US, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Asia.
Global Public Affairs Director Cecelia Burgman noted that since the program began in 2015, more than 100 charitable organizations have received welcomed volunteer help, and each year, the number of organizations grows. “Volunteering is an important part of working at Treasury Wine Estates, providing both an opportunity to contribute to important causes, but also to build teamwork and lasting connections with our communities,” she said.
Both Beringer and Beaulieu Vineyard have been part of the Napa community for more than 100 years, so there are ongoing connections that find volunteers building on ongoing efforts that happen throughout the year. Other local Treasury wineries include Etude and Sterling.
