Unprecedented giving at Napa’s must-attend harvest event
NAPA, CA (August 31, 2016) – Napa Valley Grapegrowers’ Harvest STOMP broke its own fund-raising record this past Saturday night, August 27, as the sold-out crowd of 575 people raised almost $1.3 million dollars net. This record highlights the popularity of the event, and the support it has generated. In its first 9 years, STOMP has enjoyed staggering success, with a 1,400% growth rate in funds raised since 2008. The event was held at the beautiful Regusci Ranch in the heart of the Stags Leap District. Grapegrowers, consumers, and locals looked out across vineyards and the western hills as they gathered to celebrate the 2016 harvest.
All proceeds raised at STOMP support the Napa Valley Grapegrowers (NVG) and the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation’s work to preserve Napa Valley’s vineyards and support and promote Napa Valley’s vineyard workers through education and professional development.
STOMP is Napa Valley’s authentic harvest party, where guests arrive decked out in ranch attire to enjoy an unforgettable evening under the stars. Chairs of the event, Jim and Laura Regusci, honored the rich agricultural history and diversity of the Regusci Ranch by incorporating abundant fresh produce and flowers from their gardens for a special “Farm to Ranch” dining experience. Guests sat at long tables down a large vineyard row, and later kicked up their heels on the dance floor to the music by Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers. Design elements included large-scale displays of the Regusci family history, flowers and vegetables grown on the Regusci Ranch, as well as artistic installations by major sponsors FARM Napa Valley and Mechanics Bank.
“Celebrating harvest is a time-honored tradition that grapegrowers in Napa Valley have cherished since the first grapevines were planted in the 1800s,” said Jim and Laura Regusci. “STOMP brings us all together with world-class wines, incredible food, and a spectacular Napa Valley setting on the eve of harvest to support an organization that preserves this special place.”
One highlight of the evening is the “Fund-a-Need” lot, which raises money for the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation. The Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation is the only one of its kind and through its groundbreaking work, the NVG has raised over $3 million to offer education and professional development opportunities to more than 10,200 vineyard workers and their families.
“We are so proud to have hosted this event, and help raise money to allow the Napa Valley Grapegrowers to continue to do their great work for vineyards and farmworkers,” said Jim Regusci. “We were also delighted to be able to share the Regusci Ranch, our wines, and our story with both locals and out-of-town consumers”.
Additional STOMP activities included a “Lucky Lot” raffle for items such as a custom Kubota off-road vehicle, Blue Apron dinners for 1 year, and a desirable collection of auction lots that included Napa Valley wines, experiences, and getaways. Reservations for STOMP are highly limited and sell out within 10 minutes of their announcement. 2017 reservations will be taken in May 2017 through the Napa Valley Grapegrowers.
