SANTA ROSA, Calif. (September 29, 2015) – The Russian River Valley Winegrowers (RRVW) and its members announce $7000 to be donated to the Redwood Credit Union Lake County Fire Relief Fund.
The RRVW began outreach to its members a week ago and the donated funds quickly surpassed the $5000 goal. The RRVW Membership is a tight knit group of growers, wineries, retail/commercial and coporate members who rallied together as an organization to make a monetary donation. In addition, ten RRVW wineries will be participating in the Sonoma Wine County Cares “Raise the Roof” Fundraiser, a special evening of wine tasting, silent auction and succulent bites, with all net proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction going to the Redwood Credit Union Lake County Fire Relief Fund. “The ravaging fire that has brought devastation to our neighbors in Lake County strikes close to home for many in the Russian River Valley,” says RRVW Manager, Shannon Wesley. “Not only do many of us have friends and colleagues who have been affected by this tragedy, we also look at our neighbors as an extension of us. The Russian River Valley and the Lake County communities are both rural regions steeped in agriculture and the impact of these fires have affected so many, both personally and professionally. We hope that this donation will help to ease the minds of those who need it most and help with the long road to recovery.”
