Chicago, Illinois, June, 5th, 2023 — Wein-Bauer, Inc., family owned importer of fine wines and spirits is proud to announce the addition of Bodega Renacer’s New Line Extension: Punto Final Naranjo Chardonnay Orange Wine. Founded by Patricio Reich, with the collaboration of world-renowned winemaker Alberto Antonini, Bodega Renacer prides itself in bringing consumers the very best wines from South America’s unique terroirs. This winery, based in Mendoza, now offers a new line extension of their flagship brand Punto Final with their first orange wine.

The Punto Final Naranjo is an orange wine made from Chardonnay grapes from Luján de Cuyo. Fernando Sota, Winemaking Manager of the winery, tells us that the winemaking process is similar to that of a red wine, the must is left to macerate with its skins, and this contact with the skins makes the juice obtain a darker color than that of a white wine. Fermentation takes approximately 15 days and the wine is aged in second-use French oak barrels for 3 months. Olivier Coquet, winemaker of Renacer explained, “The particular color is because polyphenolic components are extracted, that is to say: color and yellow tannins that with oxygen oxidize a little, and thus the orange tone is achieved.”

This style of winemaking has evolved from being a trend that started around 2011 to become a new speciality in Argentina. Production is usually small, it is made throughout the country and can be of different varieties, depending on the availability of white grapes or the preference of the winemaking team. Punto Final Naranjo is a versatile and easy-drinking wine, perfect with light pastas and seafood. The nose presents notes of ripe peach, apricot, ginger, flowers such as chamomile, and citrus flavors such as tangerine peel and pink grapefruit on the palate. In addition, aromas of vanilla and bourbon can be found, the result of its brief contact with used barrels. It is a vibrant wine, with fresh acidity and a sweet finish.

About Wein-Bauer

Wein-Bauer Imports is a family owned and operated Wine and Spirits import company based in Chicago, Illinois since August of 1980. The Bauer family has a deep-rooted history in winemaking prior to starting their imports company. Manfred Bauer, founder and owner of WBI, worked in his family’s wine cellar before beginning his journey to bring them to the U.S. market. Manfred was a third-generation winemaker whose vision was to bring not only his family’s wines to an international level but to be an ambassador of European wines.

Wein-Bauer’s portfolio primarily focuses on importing wines from Austria, Germany, Portugal, Hungary, France, and Argentina on a national level across 49 U.S. states. Their entrepreneurial mindset is still the driving force, as Manfred Bauer and his son Christopher, continue to find innovative, value-driven and family-oriented producers. Today, the company operates with regional offices in the East Coast, West Coast, South and in the Midwest. They also have brokers in key states to ensure that Wein-Bauer can properly service their country-wide distribution network.
