The three presenters include Jerry Eisterhold, proprietor of TerraVox Vineyards where more than 60 different varieties of native North American grape varieties have been planted and used to produce a unique set of wines. Clark Smith, one of America’s winemaking innovators and consultants is set to present. Stephen Casscles, author, educator, consultant, and longtime student of America’s indigenous grape varieties will also be presenting at the Webinar.

Many questions surround the issue of native North American grape varieties and the wines derived from them. Among the questions to be addressed at the webinar are:

  • What is the definition of a North American Native Variety?
  • Are they siblings of Vinifera and French/American Hybrids?
  • What is their origin story?
  • Why is T.V. Munson a key part of the story of North American Natives?
  • What is the TerraVox Project and why were more than 60 varieties planted in Missouri?
  • Which North American Native varieties show the most promise for winemaking?
  • What might be the future of winemaking with North American Native grapes?

The June 6 webinar is free to attend and open to all interested in the state of native North American grape varieties and the wines being produced from them. The webinar’s subject matter is aimed in particular at members of the wine trade, the wine media, academics, and enthusiast consumers interested in this unique winemaking niche.
