Gainey Vineyard Set to Release Diane Rosé this Spring

Santa Barbara, CA – This May, Gainey Vineyard will release their Diane Rosé, a rosé of pinot noir sourced from the Evan’s Ranch vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills appellation of Santa Barbara County. Set to release in time for Mother’s Day, this rosé is made in a Provencal style, and retains a bright and lively acidity.

“I named this wine for my wife of 26 years, Diane. She has always enjoyed brisk, food-friendly French rosés, so the style of this wine was really inspired by her palate. The Sta. Rita Hills appellation is so close to the Pacific that you can retain great acidity in the fruit. There’s also a vibrant salinity in this wine that really speaks to the location of the site,” says Dan Gainey, owner of Gainey Vineyard.

Founded in 1984, Gainey had its first commercial release in 1986 and is one of Santa Barbara’s most iconic wineries. Long available on the wholesale market as well as through the DtC channel, the Gainey Vineyard portfolio maintains a broad appeal among consumers and the trade alike, due to modest price increases over the years, a diverse portfolio and consistency in quality throughout.

The Gainey Vineyard tasting room, temporarily closed during the sheltering-in-place- mandate, was one of the first tasting rooms to open in Santa Barbara County and remains a popular destination, especially among travelers from the Southland, and throughout the Pacific Northwest. “We’ve always appealed to a broad base of consumers, from young folks just out of college to retirees. I’d like to think it’s because we try to remove the pretension from wine. We’ve been a farming family for decades, having run cattle, raised livestock, hay and vegetables. We champion bio-diversity at our ranch, and visitors respond well to our approach to wine; we view it as a staple. It’s a beautiful, poetic staple, but it’s still a staple, the most ideal accompaniment to a meal and so we try to keep our approach simple.”

The Gainey Vineyard rosé will be available for purchase beginning May 1st. To learn more about this wine, please visit https://gaineyvineyard.com/wines.
