Top Independent Wine Retailers Set to Gather at Annual Conclave in Washington, DC

Registration Opens for National Association of Wine Retailers 2027 Summit Set For April 27-28

October 26, 2026 (Washington, D.C.) — The National Association of Wine Retailers (NAWR) has announced its 2027 Wine Retailer Summit is set for April 27-28, 2027, in Washington, DC at the Washington Marriott Marquis. Now heading into its 11th annual incarnation, the gathering limits the meeting to only 100 attendees. The Summit registration is now open at: https://www.nawr.org/2027-summit

Widely recognized as the most important gathering of independent fine wine retailers in and for the United States, the annual two-day conference convenes brick-and-mortar merchants, fine wine internet retailers, auction houses, legal counsel, and logistics pioneers from across the country to confront the most pressing commercial, legal, and operational issues facing the retail wine tier.
Convening in the nation’s capital at a critical juncture for alcohol trade policy, the 2027 Summit will address regulatory modernization, direct-to-consumer (DTC) shipping litigation, trade tariffs, supply chain adaptation, and evolving consumer drinking demographics.
“The independent fine wine retail tier operates at the absolute front line of consumer demand, yet merchants continue to navigate an increasingly volatile regulatory and economic landscape,” said Tom Wark, Executive Director of the National Association of Wine Retailers. “The NAWR Summit has evolved into an essential conclave for independent wine retailers because it moves beyond superficial talking points. We bring together decision-makers who actually move the needle in the fine wine market to examine interstate commerce battles, market access, and business strategy with total candor. If you want to understand where the U.S. wine market is truly heading, this is the room you need to be in.”

An Intimate, High-Impact Industry Conclave

To foster substantive dialogue and strategic collaboration, registration capacity for the Summit is intentionally capped. The two-day program will feature:

  • In-Depth Panel Discussions & Keynotes: Expert briefings on constitutional litigation surrounding interstate wine shipping, federal trade policy and tariffs, state regulatory overhauls, and the economic outlook for independent fine wine merchants.
  • The State of Retailer Direct Shipping: Tactical briefings on legislative efforts and dormant Commerce Clause court battles affecting interstate market access.
  • Technology & Logistics: Best practices for inventory procurement, e-commerce compliance, and direct-to-consumer fulfillment.
  • The Annual Summit Dinner: The signature Tuesday evening dinner gathering on April 27, where attendees share rare bottles, build alliances, and network with peers.

“Because attendance is strictly capped to a small group of principals and key decision-makers, the Summit offers a caliber of candid, high-stakes dialogue you won’t find at any conventional trade show,” noted Dave Parker, NAWR President and CEO of Benchmark Wine Group.

“It has become the single most vital room in the country for independent merchants looking to navigate market shifts and shape the future of fine wine retail.”
