New York Sustainable Winegrowing Program Expands Statewide, Welcoming 26 New Certified Vineyards and Wineries

The New York Wine & Grape Foundation unites the state’s two major sustainability certification programs under one banner for the first time

October 9, 2026 — The New York Wine & Grape Foundation (NYWGF) announced today the addition of 26 vineyards and wineries to the New York Sustainable Winegrowing (NYSW) Program for 2026, the largest single-year expansion in the program’s history. This growth is anchored by a landmark transition: the NYSW Program has assumed management responsibility for the Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing (LISW) Program, bringing New York’s two major sustainability certification programs together under a unified, statewide framework for the first time.

The LISW Program holds a distinguished place in New York wine history as the state’s first sustainability certification program, established in 2012. As of 2026, the NYSW Program has assumed management of LISW, integrating its certified vineyards into the statewide network while honoring the legacy Long Island growers have spent more than a decade building.

“The Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing Program was a trailblazer,” said Justin Jackson, Sustainability Program Manager at NYWGF. “It was the first of its kind in New York, and its growers have spent over a decade proving what a commitment to sustainability looks like in action. Taking on this program isn’t just an administrative transition; it’s a recognition of that legacy and an investment in carrying it forward. Our goal is to make New York wines synonymous with sustainability, and Long Island has always been a critical part of that story.”

NYWGF is proud to welcome the following vineyards and wineries to the New York Sustainable Winegrowing Program:

  • Quarry Ridge Winery

With this expansion, 96 vineyards and wineries across New York State are now certified through the NYSW Program.

“Every vineyard that joins this program is making a commitment, not just to their land, but to the future of New York wines,” said Sam Filler, Executive Director of NYWGF. “This year’s expansion, and especially the integration of Long Island’s certified growers, marks a turning point. For the first time, we have a truly statewide sustainability network, and that is something the entire New York wine and grape industry should be proud of.”

Consumers can identify wines made from certified sustainable grapes by looking for the New York Sustainable Winegrowing Trustmark on participating wine bottles, and an interactive map of certified vineyards and wineries across the state is available at newyorkwines.org/new-york-sustainable-winegrowing.
