Showcasing Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Collection and the debut of Alexander Whisky
Vinitaly – April 12–15 – Bottega stand (C7, Hall 5)

April 10, 2026 — At Vinitaly 2026, Bottega unveils two major innovations: the new Il Vino dei Poeti Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Cartizze Dry, the pinnacle of the denomination, and Alexander Single Malt Whisky, the company’s first single malt whisky, produced in its newly established distillery in Fontana Fredda (Pordenone).

THE NEW CARTIZZE: THE HIGHEST EXPRESSION OF PROSECCO SUPERIORE

Cartizze is crafted from grapes grown exclusively on the prestigious 108‑hectare Cartizze hill in Valdobbiadene, renowned for its unique microclimate and steep, sun‑drenched slopes. Winters are cold but not harsh, summers are warm yet ventilated, and significant day‑night temperature variations enhance the aromatic complexity of the grapes.

The lean, shallow soils—composed mainly of marl and sandstone with calcareous and clay elements—contribute distinctive minerality and salinity.

Il Vino dei Poeti Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Cartizze Dry follows the traditional Dry style (22 g/l residual sugar). It displays a pale straw‑yellow color, a fine and persistent perlage, and a rich bouquet of white fruits—Golden apple, apricot, and peach—enhanced by floral hints of orange blossom and peach flower. The palate is fresh, harmonious, and elegantly persistent.

Excellent as an aperitif, it pairs beautifully with soft, creamy cheeses, asparagus risotto with Morlacco cheese, and desserts featuring shortcrust pastry and vanilla cream.

At the Bottega stand, visitors can also taste Il Vino dei Poeti Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG in Brut and Extra Dry versions, as well as the Rive di Col San Martino Dry expression.

BOTTEGA PRESENTS ITS NEW WHISKY PROJECT: ALEXANDER WHISKY

Alongside Cartizze, Bottega debuts Alexander Whisky, a single malt developed after years of research and supported by a €1.5 million investment in a new distillery dedicated exclusively to whisky production.

Alexander Whisky is made from English and Italian malts and Alpine water. Its maturation in casks previously used for Brunello di Montalcino, Amarone, or other premium Italian red wines gives the spirit a unique Italian signature.

The collection includes three expressions—Red Wines Casks Finish, Brunello Casks Finish, and Amarone Casks Finish—with alcohol strengths of 40%, 43%, and 46%. The inaugural production was limited to 9,000 liters.

“Alexander Whisky represents a dream I have carried with me since my youth. The encounter that shaped my vision dates back to 1985 in Brazil, when I discovered the art of whisky distillation from Giovanni Pessetto, an Italian emigrant who became a mentor and inspiration. Today, after decades of experience in distillation, that dream finally takes shape. Our goal was not simply to make a whisky, but to create an Italian whisky with its own identity—an expression of our vineyards, our craftsmanship, and our family’s passion.”Sandro Bottega, Bottega Managing Director

Through this project, Bottega aims to contribute to defining a new category: Italian whisky, with a distinctive identity that sets it apart from Scotch, Japanese whisky, Irish whiskey, and American Bourbon.

The company’s longstanding expertise in grappa distillation played a key role in refining malt distillation techniques, particularly in handling delicate, aromatic raw materials. Alexander Whisky contains no caramel and no added sugars.

Bottega invested in dedicated whisky stills, rather than converting its grappa equipment, adopting technology comparable to that used in leading Scotch distilleries.
