Experienced vineyard and winery manager becomes lone wine industry representative on Demeter USA’s Board, bringing deep experience and connections from a key agricultural segment

January 26, 2026 (Grants Pass, OR) — Wine industry veteran Craig Camp of Troon Vineyard & Farm has been appointed to the Board of Directors for Demeter USA, which oversees all Demeter Biodynamic® farm certifications in the United States and works in conjunction with Demeter International to coordinate Biodynamic standards throughout the world. A passionate activist for the benefits of Biodynamic farming and winemaking, Camp previously served on the Biodynamic Alliance Board, and has been intimately involved with Demeter certifications for many years. Under his leadership, Troon converted to Demeter Biodynamic certification in 2020, and has now become the only farm and winery in the world that is both Demeter Biodynamic and Regenerative Organic Gold Certified®.
“It is my honor to serve alongside the dedicated group of farmers working to introduce more farmers to the Biodynamic method,” says Camp. “Our goals are not only to protect the environment, but also to produce agricultural products with exceptional taste and nutrition – products that enhance quality of life both for those who grow our food, and those who consume it.”
Effective January 19, 2026, Camp serves as Treasurer of Demeter USA’s Board of Directors, and the Board’s representative from the Biodynamic Economic Working Group. This independent group of volunteer-professionals aims to build a productive trade organization and supportive marketplace for the benefit of biodynamic professionals and community members alike.
Camp is currently the sole member of the wine industry on Demeter USA’s Board, but he hopes to change that. “Biodynamic wine accounts for a large share of the Demeter Biodynamic farms in the USA, and I believe wineries can be powerful advocates for Biodynamic farming,” he says. “It should be our mission to bring more farms into a discipline that offers so much for the health of our planet and those of us who live on it.”
Troon’s General Manager since 2016, Camp is an accomplished fine wine professional with over three decades of experience in every facet of the industry, including importing, exporting, distribution, marketing, sales, viticulture, and fine wine production. He has extensive hands-on experience in wineries in Italy, Napa Valley, the Willamette Valley, and now the Applegate Valley.
Camp has previously been recognized for his work by The New York Times, Washington Post, The Wine Enthusiast, Decanter, Food and Wine Magazine and Saveur Magazine, and others. Most recently, he was nominated as 2025’s Environmental Advocate of the Year by Wine Enthusiast’s Wine Star Awards. He is past president of the Oregon Winegrowers Association and past-president of the Rhône Rangers and the Applegate Valley Vintners Association. He was named one of “Wine’s Most Inspiring People of 2021” by Wine Industry Network, and Troon was nominated as an American Winery of the Year in 2022. Troon has also been awarded the Slow Food Slow Wine Snail Award for seven consecutive vintages.
