Finalists Announced in the Second Star Wine List of the Year Spain Competition

January 9, 2026 (Stockholm, Sweden) — Star Wine List made its Spanish awards debut during Barcelona Wine Week in 2025, and now it’s back for a second year. The judges of Star Wine List of the Year Spain 2026 have just announced their 41 finalists, who span 19 locations across Spain and include prominent winners from last year’s inaugural competition in addition to a number of new faces. Gold Stars will be presented at an event in Madrid, in February.

The jury panel for Star Wine List of the Year Spain 2026 comprises four world-class sommeliers: Jonathan Gouveia (Master Sommelier), Paz Levinson (ASI Best Sommelier of the Americas 2015), Martynas Pravilonis (Best Sommelier of the Baltics 2016, 2017) and local expert Pilar Cavero (Best Sommelier of Spain 2013). They have judged the submitted wine lists in nine categories, ready for Gold Star winners to be announced at an awards ceremony on 16th February 2026 hosted in Madrid for finalists, partners and selected media.

In the running for a second year is Ambivium, in Peñafiel – after earning two Gold Stars last year, the Michelin-starred restaurant is now shortlisted in four categories for 2026. Other returning champions are Moments (Barcelona), Berria Wine Bar (Madrid) and Amelia By Paulo Airaudo (San Sebastián). But there are plenty of new venues up for awards this year, making for a very exciting contest.

All categories in question are ‘international’ categories, which means that all Gold Star winners in Spain will automatically go on to compete in the culmination of this season’s awards tour, the Star Wine List of the Year International Final, which will be held in June 2026.
