Napa Valley College Appoints Winemaker Robert Hunt to Viticulture & Winery Technology Foundation Board of Directors

December 18, 2025 (Napa, CA) — The Napa Valley College Viticulture & Winery Technology Foundation (VWTF) has appointed acclaimed winemaker and strategic wine-production leader Robert Hunt to its Board of Directors.

Born in Austin, Texas, Hunt earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University and began his career in the Bay Area, working on microelectronic and biopharmaceutical clean-room facilities. In 1999, he shifted careers to pursue winemaking full time, starting at Pine Ridge Vineyards and later completing the viticulture and enology program at Napa Valley College.

Hunt brings more than two decades of experience in premium wine production, vineyard management, and operational leadership. His career includes roles at Clos Pegase, OVID, Colgin, and nearly a decade as winemaker for Anderson’s Conn Valley Vineyards and Ghost Horse, where he oversaw high-end production, managed vineyard programs, modernized facility operations, and led a team responsible for multiple critically acclaimed wines. His work has earned numerous 95–98+ scores from major wine publications.

Since 2021, Hunt has served as a consultant winemaker for boutique projects under R&D Wine Co., directing wine style development, quality assurance, and fruit sourcing for ultra-premium labels.

“Robert Hunt’s expertise, strategic perspective, and longstanding connection to Napa Valley College make him an invaluable addition to our board. His commitment to education and winemaking will directly support the next generation of winemakers and viticulture professionals.”

Carollee Cattolica, Executive Director, VWTF

“It is a privilege to be part of the VWT program and to give back to an initiative that has given so much to me. Developing the next generation of talent is a core responsibility of the program, and one I am honored to support.”

Robert Hunt, Trustee, VWTF

VWTF looks forward to the insights, guidance, and leadership Robert Hunt will bring as the foundation works to further enrich student experiences, connect with industry leaders, and strengthen Napa Valley College’s role in shaping the future of wine education.
