Signature Mobile Bottlers was founded in 1988 by Steve & David Scholz with an initial focus on wine equipment sales. Over time they realized wineries thrive by mastering their craft, not on tinkering with bottling equipment.
“We took our knowledge and love of the machinery we represented and made it mobile! Winemakers and winery owners helped us perfect what we do, making our service and procedures second to none,” says David Scholz.
Steve Scholz had a successful business working in the burgeoning Oregon/Washington wine industry selling winemaking equipment to a steady stream of growing, loyal customers. It became crystal clear to the family that there was a huge gap in the wine industry that they were uniquely qualified to fill.
Following David’s design and construction of the first mobile truck, wineries readily recognized the value of their support, leading to their invitation to Napa and Sonoma in 1992. In return, Signature Bottlers and wineries created a bond and partnership that has grown closer over the past 38 years.
Significantly, Signature Mobile Bottlers offers enormous flexibility to wineries, delivered with professionalism and a personal touch. “We’ve found that the best way to serve is with a local presence,” Scholz confirms. “We’ve bonded our culture with the local winery culture. We try to make it as personal as possible by treating each of our clients as family.”

Today, Signature Mobile Bottlers operates 17 trucks in every geographic location from San Francisco to the Canadian border serving wineries of all sizes to bring value and to streamline their bottling programs.

Signature’s fleet stands as a testament to their customers’ trust and collaboration. They take great pride in understanding how wine should be bottled and go to exceptional lengths to ensure the equipment is meticulously maintained and sanitized beyond industry standards. The result is a seamless, calm bottling experience—so you can focus on what truly matters: making outstanding wine.

Steve Scholz served the industry with integrity all the way to his passing in 2024. His family legacy lives on through his son David, guiding his children Cale and Allie. Cale Scholz is a “boots on the ground” VP of Operations, while Allie has become Director of Marketing and Development.
For David Scholz, his successful family business is rooted in what he is committed to providing to the wine industry.
“We’ve built our reputation on flexibility, cleanliness and professionalism,” Scholz asserts. “If wineries are not getting that from their existing bottling service, they should be.”
