Pietrose Rosé: Talosa’s Ambitious Project in Montepulciano

September 15, 2025 (Montepulciano – Siena, Italy) — In recent years, Talosa has been committed to an ambitious project: producing a high-quality rosé wine. Pietrose Brut Rosé Metodo Classico Millesimato is the result of the dedication of Fattoria della Talosa and of an entire territory traditionally devoted to great red wines, now applied to the creation of a structured rosé, an elegant sparkling wine made entirely from Sangiovese, with an aging potential of over ten years. Pietrose embodies the dream of this small estate nestled in the hills of Montepulciano: a wine that is elegant, fresh, and persistent on the palate, offering a full and satisfying sip.

The grapes come from vineyards in the Pietrose area of Montepulciano, where sandy soils of Pliocene origin, at an altitude of 350 to 400 meters above sea level and with a south-western exposure, provide the perfect environment for Sangiovese cultivated with a spurred cordon system. Yields are limited to about 4,000 kilograms per hectare, ensuring concentration and character. The harvest takes place in the first half of September, with a manual selection of the best grapes. After destemming and crushing, the juice remains in contact with the skins for about two hours. Following fermentation, the wine rests on the lees for sixty months, before being dosed, corked, and aged for at least three additional months in the bottle prior to release.

The result is a Metodo Classico sparkling rosé of remarkable finesse, combining the freshness and vibrancy of Sangiovese with structure, persistence, and the ability to evolve gracefully for over a decade. Perfectly suited for summer enjoyment, Pietrose Brut Rosé also shines as the season draws to a close, offering freshness and elegance that seamlessly accompany the transition from the bright flavors of summer to the richer moods of autumn.

About Talosa
Founded in 1972 by the Jacorossi family, Talosa was one of the first wineries to believe in the potential of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, working with dedication to raise its qualitative profile. Today, the estate spans 33 hectares of organic vineyards in the most prized area of the appellation, in the Pietrose district, at altitudes ranging between 330 and 400 meters. Here, the stony soils and optimal exposure give the wines structure, elegance, and remarkable longevity. The beating heart of the winery is its historic aging cellar, located in the center of Montepulciano beneath Palazzo Tarugi and Palazzo Sinatti, two 16th-century Renaissance buildings that house the large oak barrels where Vino Nobile rests and matures. International recognition and participation in the Pievi project confirm Talosa’s commitment to producing authentic, identity-driven wines—wines that tell the story of their land in every glass.
