Formerly known as Carpenter Hill Vineyards, the storied estate has been reborn as Ravissant Cellars under the stewardship of new owners Cathy and Arlan Mendell. While the name has changed, the legacy lives on—and a fresh chapter is now unfolding in Southern Oregon wine country.
Nestled in the hills outside Medford, the vineyard has long been a local treasure, producing elegant, cool-climate wines and unforgettable experiences. Many Oregonians fondly remember their visits to Carpenter Hill—the warm welcome, the sweeping views, and the wines that told a story of place.
The Mendells, longtime wine lovers and dreamers, are honoring that legacy while breathing new life into the property. “We didn’t just buy a vineyard,” says Cathy Mendell. “We stepped into a living history—and we’re here to carry it forward with care, joy, and purpose.”
The name Ravissant, meaning “delightful” in French, reflects the Mendells’ vision: to create wines of elegance, charm, and beauty in a setting that inspires awe. The vineyard, perched above the valley floor, continues to produce premium grapes that express the unique character of the site—now under thoughtful, hands-on stewardship.
