June 23, 2025 (Napa, CA)Bouchaine Vineyards’ owners Gerret and Tatiana Copeland are proud to announce that through their sponsorship, the Versailles Royal Opera Orchestra will make its historic North American debut this summer with bicoastal performances in Napa, California as part of Festival Napa Valley, July 5-20, and in New York City with “Versailles in the City” on July 21 and 23. The Versailles Royal Opera Orchestra, created in 2019 for John Corigliano’s The Ghosts of Versailles, presents 100 performances each year, drawing from a diverse repertoire that spans Baroque to Classical to Romantic, with a core focus on 17th and 18th-century music.

“Art and music have always meant a lot to me, and have so enriched my life”, says Bouchaine Owner Tatiana Copeland, who is also a founding benefactor of Festival Napa Valley. “I have always felt a very special connection to music because of my upbringing. My mother’s uncle was the famous Russian composer and pianist, Sergei Rachmaninoff. He was very close to my mother throughout his life, and I was named after his daughter, Tatiana. Because of my background, I truly believe that it is my duty, and my deepest pleasure, to support music and musicians worldwide. My husband and I are thrilled to bring the incredible Versailles Orchestra to Napa Valley and the Festival.”

During Festival Napa Valley’s 2025 Summer Season, the Versailles Royal Opera Orchestra will perform Donizetti’s comedic masterpiece “La Fille du Regiment” on Friday, July 18, at the Festival Napa Valley Stage at Charles Krug Winery. On Saturday, July 19, the ensemble will perform a series of Baroque gems at Opus One Premieres, hosted at Tatiana Copeland’s picturesque Olive Hill Estate in Carneros, Napa Valley.

The Versailles Royal Opera Orchestra will then travel to New York City for “Versailles in New York” on July 21 and 23. The two-night celebration is presented by Death of Classical, a nonprofit known for its intimate and unconventional classical music and opera experiences, in partnership with Festival Napa Valley and the French tourism development agency Atout France.

On July 21, “Versailles in Printemps: The Affair of the Poisons” will offer an immersive after-hours theatrical experience at the brand-new US outpost of luxury French retailer Printemps. The production, conceived by Death of Classical Founder and Artistic Director Andrew Ousley and centered around a performance by the full Versailles Royal Opera Orchestra, dramatizes a scandal that shook the court of Louis XIV and will incorporate additional actors, musicians and performance artists. Guests will freely explore the 55,000-square-foot space while enjoying wines from Bouchaine and bites by James Beard Award winner Gregory Gourdet. On July 23, “Versailles at L’Alliance” will showcase the full orchestra, led by Stefan Plewniak, with countertenor Franco Fagioli making his North American debut in “Arias for Velluti, The Last Castrato,” at L’Alliance’s Florence Gould Theater. Tickets include access to a pre-show reception featuring Bouchaine wines, cocktails by Via Carota and more. A select number of VIP “Louis XIV Experience” tickets are available and include access to an opulent post-show salon at Freeman’s | Hindman New York Auctions House, where the festivities will continue with site-specific performances and curated food and beverage offerings.

Events on both coasts will be hosted by the Copelands and Bouchaine President and Winemaker Chris Kajani, who look forward to treating guests to pours of the winery’s lineup of award-winning Napa Carneros AVA wines.

This fall, the wines of Bouchaine Vineyards will once again be showcased at the Palace of Versailles. In recognition of their ongoing generosity, Gerret and Tatiana Copeland have been invited back to France as honored guests at the Versailles Annual Gala Dinner on October 5, 2025. Guests at this exclusive evening will enjoy a selection of Bouchaine’s finest selections poured by Winemaker and President Kajani herself, set against the majestic backdrop of Versailles with music by the Royal Opera Orchestra.

About Bouchaine Vineyards
Bouchaine was founded by Gerret and Tatiana Copeland and is today one of the leading producers of sustainably farmed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the Carneros AVA. The estate is comprised of 104 acres, including a dramatic tasting room designed in the form of a welcoming embrace, complete with a state-of-the-art open kitchen. The vineyards at Bouchaine are greatly influenced by the adjacent San Pablo Bay, where cool breezes and the daily influx of fog allow cool climate varieties to shine. The location’s substantial daily temperature shifts also help develop beautiful acidity in the fruit, resulting in wines with vivid energy and texture. Noted as the first “Fish Friendly Farming” certified vineyard in Napa Valley, the winery is also Napa Green land and winery certified. If one sentence can encapsulate the energy of Bouchaine, it is the winery’s new trademarked slogan, “Wine Makes you Happy™.” For more information about Bouchaine Vineyards, please visit https://bouchaine.com/
