California wineries invited to enter for free; wine deliveries due May 14, 2027
October 30, 2026 (Costa Mesa, CA) — The Orange County Wine Society (OCWS), in partnership with the OC Fair, invites California wineries of all sizes to enter the 2027 OC Fair Commercial Wine Competition. Entry is free, with wine deliveries due May 14, 2027.
The competition debuts a new logo for 2027, building on more than 50 years of experience recognizing California wines and connecting wineries with wine enthusiasts.
The largest competition exclusively for California wines features double-blind peer judging by professional winemakers and winery principals. Judging takes place June 5 – 6, 2027, with wines evaluated by varietal, price point, and sugar level.
Wineries submit six 750 mL bottles, or the equivalent, per entry. Limited Production wineries producing fewer than 1,000 total cases annually submit just three bottles per entry. Enter at entry.WineCompetition.com or EnofileOnline.com.
Awards include Bronze, Silver, Gold, Double Gold, and Best of Class honors. Entries are also eligible for the free Label and Bottle Design Competition.
Results are posted on WineCompetition.com, an interactive database with links to winery websites, supported by year-round social media spotlights of participating wineries and winners. Competition wines are poured at the OC Fair Wine Courtyard, while the Featured Winery Program connects wineries directly with fairgoers. The 2027 OC Fair runs July 16 through August 15.
The competition supports the wine industry’s future through scholarships. Since 1981, OCWS has donated more than $1 million to eight California colleges and universities with enology and viticulture programs.
