Honoring Madame Pommery’s Legacy

Champagne Pommery remains deeply committed to the arts, a dedication that traces back to the spirit of Madame Pommery, who in 1882 commissioned French sculptor Gustave Navlet to create four excellent sculptures for the cellars’ walls in 1882.  Honoring this legacy, Pommery has continued to open its historic Gallo-Roman chalk cellars, offering a unique platform for artists to showcase their work at the “Experience Pommery” exhibition.  Champagne Pommery has supported both the Armory Show and Art Basel Miami for several years.

150 Years of Innovation and Excellence

Prior to the invention of Brut Champagne, Champagne wines contained high levels of sugar and alcohol to counteract acidity. However, Madame Pommery, influenced by English tastes, anticipated a shift towards wines with less sugar and more subtlety. This required significant technological adjustments, such as delaying harvest to harvest ripe grapes, increasing aging time in the cellar, and building up the stock of wines to achieve the desired roundness. Since introducing her creation to the world in 1874, Champagne Pommery has been celebrated for its seamless blend of tradition, quality, and innovation.

Champagne Pommery looks forward to continuing its partnership with the global art community, nurturing creativity, and inspiring a shared passion for the arts.

About Champagne Pommery

Champagne Pommery, synonymous with refinement, tradition, and excellence, was shaped by the visionary Madame Pommery, who took over Pommery & Greno in 1858. Driven by an uncompromising commitment to quality and distinction, she sought to craft champagne unlike any other. In 1874, Madame Pommery created the world’s first Brut Champagne, revolutionizing the style, and establishing the House as a symbol of French luxury and savoir-faire. This year marks the 150th anniversary of her iconic creation, a testament to Champagne Pommery’s enduring legacy and dedication to fresh and lively cuvées with finesse.
