Sonoma-Cutrer Releases New Vintages of Sonoma Coast Chardonnay, the Cutrer Chardonnay and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

Renowned Sonoma County winery introduces three new vintages from Director of Winemaking Cara Morrison and Senior Winemaker Zidanelia Arcidiacono

WINDSOR, Calif., September 21, 2023 – Today, California pioneer Sonoma-Cutrer, located in the heart of the Russian River Valley, announces three new vintages of its award-winning wines – the 2022 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay, 2021 The Cutrer Chardonnay and 2021 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. The new vintages showcase the winery’s mastery of both the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes.

For the first time in its forty plus year history, Sonoma-Cutrer features an all-female team led by their newest and first ever female Director of Winemaking Cara Morrison and Senior Winemaker Zidanelia Arcidiacono. As seen with these releases, they will continue honoring Burgundian traditions while implementing California innovation to create standout bottles that are certified sustainable.

“With such unique weather and already diverse soil types and growing conditions, these new vintages of Sonoma Coast, The Cutrer and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir are sure to be exceptional members of the Sonoma-Cutrer lineup,” said Morrison. Arcidiacono added that, “Each of these wines are distinctly different while also highlighting the consistency that Sonoma-Cutrer is known for.”

The 2022 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is a rich, medium straw color with aromas of stone fruit, oak spice and hints of clove and caramel, toasted nuts, and light honeydew. With creamy richness, the wine boasts flavors of ripe pear and Golden Delicious apple. This wine is a classic, elegantly structured Chardonnay with lots of finesse and focused balance from start to finish. It features Sonoma-Cutrer’s signature bright acidity with nice length and a soft mid-palate that rounds out to a pleasant, long finish of lingering barrel spice.

The 2021 The Cutrer Chardonnay is a richly layered wine with aromas of caramelized nuts, light caramel, ripe pear, apple pie, praline, brown sugar, and sweet baking spices. This opulent wine is full of flavors of  baked apple and pear, toasted oak, roasted nuts, and baking spice. The intense, velvety mid-palate leads to bright acidity and a long, creamy finish. The Cutrer appeals to wine lovers who enjoy a fuller, rounder Chardonnay with more oak.

The 2021 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a deep, rich ruby-purple hue. Classic in style, it shows an array of elegant aromas with notes of red berries, cranberry, cherry cola, savory spices, a hint of black tea and fresh earth as well as sweet, spicy vanilla from the oak barrel aging. The wine is beautifully structured with smooth, fine tannins that add to the intensity of the warm spices and red berry flavors. It features a balanced acidity, a juicy core and a medium length on the finish. With a price under $40, this 100% Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is not only an exceptional wine, it’s also a great value.

Sonoma-Cutrer’s Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (13.9%) is available for an SRP of $25, The Cutrer Chardonnay (14.1%) is available for an SRP of $36 and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (14.3%) is available for an SRP of $36.
