August 25th – Paso Robles, Calif.— This is the First Winery of the Year award for the Paso Robles winery since its first release in 1988.The award was presented at the Wine Industry Awards & Gold Medal Tasting in Mission Square during the California Mid-State Fair.  Peachy Canyon Winery has created a tradition over 35 years of producing wines that exemplify the Paso Robles appellation with a focus on dry farmed
Zinfandel.

“Nancy and I began Peachy Canyon Winery as a family business in 1988, just when the Paso Robles area was beginning,” said founder Doug Beckett. “We are very proud of what we created here at Peachy Canyon and are honored to be recognized by our peers and neighbors at this year’s wine competition.”

All 17 wines entered in the competition received medals. Of the 17 awards, Peachy Canyon received one best of class, one double gold, nine golds, six silvers and one bronze.  The Best of Class award was given to the 2021 Westside Zinfandel along with a judges score of 96. This Zinfandel is a blend from Peachy Canyon’s 5 Estate Vineyards on the Westside of Paso Robles.

“At Peachy Canyon we are very fortunate to have estate fruit sources in the Adelaida, Templeton Gap and Willow Creek Districts.  Each site produces different profiles of Zinfandel that give us the ability to grow and make something special” says Josh Beckett.  “The 2021 vintage of Westside is the result of my brother Jake’s and my plan to redevelop our ageing vineyards.” Being able to craft an estate blend from 5 vineyards across Paso Robles’s Westside gives Peachy Canyon the ability to produce a wine that delivers like a single vineyard bottling, but can be made available to customers across the country. “I’m very fortunate to be winemaker at Peachy Canyon right now.  To be able to put my stamp on a wine that has played such a large part of making Peachy Canyon and Paso Robles what they are today is truly incredible.” says winemaker Drew Phillips. “The hard work that Josh and Jake Beckett have done to grow such fantastic fruit makes my job fun.”

Peachy Canyon Winery is rich in history – 2023 will be Peachy Canyons 35th vintage and there has never been more to celebrate.  As one of the first ten bonded wineries in Paso Robles we have been fortunate to play a role in turning Paso Robles into the world-renowned wine growing region it is today.  Paso Robles’ wine, vineyards and people are unique when compared to any other growing region in the world.

It is promising to see the second generation of Peachy Canyon Winery continue to use their rich history and commitment to excellence, making significant contributions to the wine industry. Josh & Jake Beckett feel a tremendous responsibility to continue farming their vineyards sustainably and responsibly for future generations to come. We look forward to another 35 years of calling Paso our home.
